Why I Became a Patient Advocate
My journey into patient advocacy was born out of the years I spent navigating a healthcare system that often felt like a maze. For a long time, my life was defined by the search for a diagnosis of being bounced between physical therapists, pain injections, and alternative treatments like chiropractic care and acupuncture. During those years, my quality of life suffered significantly as I struggled to find the right provider and the right answers.
This path was further shaped by my experience as a caregiver for my father. Navigating the complexities of his dementia diagnosis was a deeply demanding process, but it provided me with a profound understanding of the administrative and emotional hurdles families face.
These personal trials became my professional calling. I became an advocate to turn my experience into a roadmap for others, ensuring that no one has to navigate their health journey or caregiving responsibilities alone.
